March 29-April 2 - Spring Break Camp
The Oberlin Heritage Center is offering a first ever Spring Break camp in 2010! This year History Explorers Camp will be held 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. from Monday, March 29 through Friday, April 2, 2010. This camp is for boys and girls ages 8 to 13.
History Explorers Camp will stimulate children's creativity and whet their appetites for history, architecture, art, and the tastes and sounds of other cultures and other times. Activities will include craft projects, historic games, creating digital history projects for everyone to see, museum tours, and supervised walking trips around historic downtown Oberlin. Campers will: scan a family photo to preserve and share it with others; create a keepsake that will last for years to come; make a historic game to take home; hunt for clues about how the town has changed; and see letters and objects that are hundreds of years old!
The camp will be led by an experienced teacher assisted by an adult intern or volunteer, and young volunteers from the community. The class will be held at the Oberlin Depot at 240 South Main Street, with some walking field trips to interesting places nearby. For all days children should bring a bag lunch and dress for taking walks outside. Simple snacks are provided.
