June 9-11 - Teacher Workshop: Architecture & Historic Spaces

The Oberlin Heritage Center is working with the Allen Memorial Art Museum at Oberlin College to host a Teacher In-Service Workshop on Tuesday, June 9, through Thursday, June 11, 2009.

This workshop will take place from 1pm - 5pm daily, and is open to regional educators of all grade levels and disciplines. During this three-day workshop, which focuses on the theme of ‘Introducing Architecture and Historical Spaces into your Curriculum,' participants will learn about a wide-range of styles represented by Oberlin buildings, and how to use architecture and historic objects to lead into discussions of history, culture, technology, mathematics, and any number of other subjects.

The workshop will include sessions for dialogue and brainstorming amongst all participants, as well as a special presentation on teaching through architecture by Ms. Cara Armstrong, Curator of Education at Fallingwater, one of the most renowned buildings designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.

Funding for this workshop is made possible through a grant from the Ohio Arts Council.

The deadline for workshop enrollment is Monday, June 1, 2009. Please complete and return the attached registration form by that date, or send your information to Jason Trimmer, Curator of Education, at [email protected], by fax at (440) 775-8671, or by phone (440) 775-8671.
