May - History Walks Begin

The Oberlin Heritage Center's very popular guided walking tour program has expanded with new offerings in 2009.

Tappan Square History Walk. This tour of the history and architecture around the square will be offered at 11 a.m. on the 1st Friday and 3rd Saturday of every month, from May through October. You'll learn about early residents and hear stories of triumph and misfortune and walk away with a lively appreciation of Oberlin's unique heritage and buildings.

Freedom's Friends: Underground Railroad and Abolistionist History Walk. This new tour showcases Oberlin's important role in the history of abolition and the Underground Railroad. It will be offered at 11 a.m. on the 2nd Friday and 4th Saturday of the month, from May through October. During its initial launch during the months of May and June 2009, Oberlin Heritage Center members are invited to take this tour free of charge (but must register).
