October 17 (Friday, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.)
Area youngsters have the day off because of NEOEA professional development teacher workshops, and area arts and culture organizations offer a number of FREE family activities for this kids' vacation day. Activities this year will center around the art museum's exhibition theme "Art of the Americas."
Here at the Heritage Center, families can visit the Little Red Schoolhouse at 11:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to hear historical interpreter Judy Cook sing songs and ballads of early America. The schoolhouse will also be open for exploration and yard games from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Hands-on activities at other sites will include self portraits, paper flowers, book giveaways, and more!
This event is co-hosted by the Oberlin Heritage Center, Allen Memorial Art Museum, FAVA, the Oberlin Public Library, America Reads, and the Eastwood/Prospect PTO.
