March 28-April 1 Time Explorers Spring Break Camp

The Oberlin Heritage Center is hosting another Spring Break camp in 2011! Time Explorers Camp will be held 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. from Monday, March 28 through Friday, April 1, 2011. This camp is for boys and girls ages 8 to 13. Time Explorers Camp will take kids through the fun, the fashion, the technology and the games of five different time periods. Campers can enroll in one, two, five days - as many days as they wish! There is a discount for registering for the full week.
Monday - Ancient China
Ancient art forms, chopstick etiquette, strategic games
Tuesday - Medieval Europe
Conquering kingdoms, flags and castles, music
Wednesday - American Frontier
No grocery store, chores and games, Native American art
Thursday - Civil War Era
Soldier and civilian life, letters and memories, battle diorama
Friday - 1960s Social Revolution
Signs for action, from earth to the moon, rocking the radio
Oberlin Heritage Center camps stimulate children's creativity and whet their appetites for history, architecture, art, and the tastes and sounds of other cultures and other times. Camps are led by an experienced teacher assisted by an adult intern or volunteer, and young volunteers from the community. This camp will be held at the Oberlin Depot at 240 South Main Street, sometimes with some walking field trips to interesting places nearby, weather permitting. For all days children should bring a bag lunch and dress for being outside for certain activities. Simple snacks are provided.
Meet our teacher! Liz Schultz is the Museum Education and Tour Coordinator for the Oberlin Heritage Center. She graduated with degrees in archaeology and anthropology from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and Binghamton University (NY). Liz then earned a M.A. in museum studies with a focus in museum education from the Cooperstown Graduate Program (NewYork). Liz enjoys inspiring curiosity, creativity, and an appreciation for diverse cultures, past and present.
