April 11 - {FULL} Alcoa Field Trip for OHC Members Only

(Monday, April 11 from 8:00 AM - 2:30 PM)

3/8/2016: This event is now full.

OHC interprets Charles Martin Hall's 1886 invention of the aluminum extraction process in its guided tours. Now let's follow that historic thread to the present day with this OHC Members-Only visit to the Alcoa Forgings and Extrusions plant in Cleveland. Following an introductory session at the Alcoa Event Center, participants will tour the factory to see forgings, extrusions, finishing, and a 50,000-lb. press. Afterwards, participants will enjoy lunch together at Melt Bar & Grilled and hear a mini-lecture on Oberlin's aluminum connections by Oberlin College Emeritus Professor of Chemistry Norm Craig

Fee: $40 per person (which includes transportation by carpool and lunch). Limited to 20 participants on a first-come, first-served basis. Register online or call 440-774-1700.

The tour involves much walking (including outdoors) and step-climbing. More information, including safety requirement, will be sent following registration.

If you register online, you will be contacted and asked to complete a registration form.

Want to go on the trip but not yet a member of the Oberlin Heritage Center? Join today and enjoy the benefits of a membership!
