Nov. 9 & 10 Special Tours during Parents' Weekend

As part of Oberlin College's Parents' Weekend activities, the Oberlin Heritage Center has expanded its guided tour schedule for Friday, November 9 and Saturday, November 10. Out-of-town visitors and residents of the area are welcome to take part in one or more of the following:

Freedom's Friends History Walk: This neighborhood walking tour focuses on the historic decisions that shaped Oberlin's growth as a station of the Underground Railroad and highlights individuals and events that marked Oberlin as one of the most active stops on this network to freedom. Offered Friday, November 9 at 3:00 p.m. and Saturday, November 10 at 11:00 a.m. and at 3:00 p.m. Pre-registration required; space is limited. $6 adults; Free for OHC members and any college students with current ID, free to children accompanied by an adult. Best suited for ages 9 and above. History walk begins on the front steps of First Church in Oberlin, U.C.C. at the corner of Main (SR 58) and Lorain Streets (SR 511). Maximum participation: 40 people per walk.

Oberlin Heritage Center Guided Tour
Experience beautifully preserved historic sites that tell the powerful stories of this nationally significant community where everyday people have done extraordinary things ever since the college and town were founded in 1833. You'll learn about abolition and the Underground Railroad, women's history, the development of aluminum, decorative arts and more, while visiting two historic houses and a pioneer era, one-room schoolhouse. Offered Saturday, November 10 at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Pre-registration encouraged; limited to 24 people. $6 adults, free for Oberlin Heritage Center members, college students and children.

In case of rain, the history walks will be cancelled and refunded, while the guided on-site tours of the Heritage Center's three historic buildings continue to take place rain or shine.
