Oct 16 - Jacob Cox: Oberlin's Finest Civil War General, Lunch Program

October 16 (Thursday, 12 noon) History for Lunch.  This brown bag presentation and book signing features author Gene Schmiel on "Jacob Cox: Oberlin's Finest Civil War General."  Schmiel takes an introspective look at Civil War General Jacob Dolson Cox and leads his audience to understand that with Cox's personality, Oberlin training, and educational focus on the ministry and theology, few would have predicted that he would have a successful military career. On the other hand, the educational discipline he received at Oberlin College, along with his study of the classics helped him prepare himself and his men as he led them into battle. Co-sponsored by the Heritage Center and the Oberlin College Archives and Oberlin Public Library. Location: Oberlin Public Library.
