Sept 8 - Root Beer and Yesteryear

September 8 (Sunday, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.) Root Beer and Yesteryear

Visitors of all ages can revel in free popcorn and root beer floats as they enjoy this fun afternoon of historical games, music, re-enactors, and exhibits on the Heritage Center grounds. Why root beer? Oberlin was a "dry" town for most of its history, meaning you couldn't buy alcohol within city limits. Free parking for the event will be available in the Oberlin Conservatory of Music parking lot just north of the Heritage Center.

Schedule of Presentations:

1:30PM - Listen to selections on the Heritage Center's c. 1800 Astor piano performed by Oberlin Conservatory students Shangru Du and Zuguang Xiao. (Location: Monroe House)
2:00PM - Historic re-enactor Diane Stanley of Wellington brings Lucy Stone to life. (Location: Jewett House)
2:30PM - Pat Serio entertains outdoors with the mountain dulcimer
3:00PM - Inez James portrays Sojourner Truth in association with the Lorain Negro Business and Professional Women's Club.

Thank you to Ben Franklin, the premier sponsor, Oberlin IGA, our root beer float sponsor, and to Herrick Jewelry, our event co-sponsor.
