Liz Schultz honored by OLHA
The Oberlin Heritage Center’s Executive Director Liz Schultz has been recognized by the Ohio Local History Alliance (OLHA) with an Outstanding Individual Achievement Award.
Schultz was among several honorees from throughout the state feted at an awards luncheon held at the OLHA Annual Meeting in Dublin, Ohio on Saturday, October 8, 2016. The Outstanding Individual Achievement Award recognizes dedication and expertise in the field of local history. Nominees must be involved in a historical organization for at least five years, and demonstrate excellence in more than one area of an organization’s operations.
Schultz’s association with the Oberlin Heritage Center began in June 2007 when she was hired as the first full-time Museum Education and Tour Coordinator on the Heritage Center’s professional staff. With creativity, dedication, and endless energy, she further developed the Heritage Center’s history education opportunities both on-site and in the community and engaged visitors of all ages with the nationally significant history of Oberlin. In August 2015 Liz became the Executive Director of the Heritage Center and has worked diligently since then to expand OHC’s outreach to new audiences, strengthen community partnerships, and devise ways to share more recent stories from Oberlin’s past.
Schultz is the 9th member of the Oberlin Heritage Center’s team of staff and volunteers who have been honored since 1999 with an Achievement Award by OLHA, a statewide association of peers from the museum and local history fields.
