Sept 10 - Monroe House 150th Anniversary Open House

September 10 (Saturday, 10 a.m.-3:00 p.m.)

Come for a behind-the-scenes look at the 1866 Monroe House to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of this remarkable building! Look closely at the brickwork, climb the stairs all the way to the top in the cupola, explore the nooks and crannies in our research/collections area in the basement, poke into closets, and learn more about the house and its former inhabitants. The Little Red Schoolhouse, a fan-favorite for the young and young-at-heart, also will be open. There will be a brief cake-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m.

This free event is part of the Ohio Open Doors initiative taking place all over the state from September 9-18, with historic sites hosting special tours and activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the National Historic Preservation Act, signed by President Lyndon B. Johnson.  For information on other Ohio Open Doors events visit www.ohiohistory.org/preserve/ohio-open-doors.
