Jim White Completes Term as Board President

At the April 7 Annual Meeting, Jim White stepped down as President of the Oberlin Heritage Center Board of Trustees.  He was president from 2005 to 2010 and he will be missed by board members, staff, volunteers, and organizational members, although we are all delighted that he intends to stay involved with the organization.  Jim White was succeeded by new president Walt Edling.

An oversized, hand-made card, signed by many OHC members and friends, was presented to Jim at the Annual Meeting.  The card included the following ditty, penned in tribute to Jim White, by Mary Anne Cunningham, Assistant to the Director.

Jim White, Jim White
[To the tune of Frank Sinatra's famous "New York, New York."]

Start spreading the news,
He's stepping aside.
He's really been a part of it,
Jim White, Jim White.

He's done his job well -
A masterful guide!
He really put his heart in it,
Jim White, Jim White.

He wants to wake up, roll over
And go back to sleep.
Skip breakfast meetings at 8 -
No calendar to keep.

This little OHC
Is becoming well-known
As something really quite unique
In Oberlin.
Now Jim we have to cheer,
You've made a difference here,
You're great, first-rate
Jim White, Jim White.

He wants to wake up, roll over
And go back to sleep.
Without meetings at 8 -
No letters to sign -
Well...O.K. just a committee or two,
And a few less appointments to keep... :)

This little OHC
Is becoming well-known
As something really quite unique
In Oberlin.
So Jim we sing your praise
And shout Hip-Hip-Hoorays!
To you, true-blue,
Jim White, Jim White.

With love and thanks to our Chairman of the Board -
And we're so glad you'll remain very involved at OHC!
